Your 2025 Cancer Health Tips
Cancer seems to be a topic of conversation lately. Being the curious person I am, I wanted to see what factual information was being published.
According to the American Cancer Society's 2025 report, an estimated 2,041,910 new cancer cases and 618,120 cancer deaths are projected to occur in the United States in 2025. PubMed+2ACS Journals+2ACS Journals+2
"In the coming year, they’re expecting to hit a bleak milestone—the first-time new cases of cancer in the US are expected to cross the 2-million mark. That’s almost 5,500 cancer diagnoses a day. The most common cancers expected to be diagnosed in men are prostate, lung, and colorectal cancers, accounting for an estimated 48% of all cases. For women, breast, lung, and colorectal cancers are anticipated to represent 51% of all new diagnoses." Comprehensive Cancer Information
The better news is that the cancer mortality rate has been on a decline, with a 34% decrease from 1991 to 2022, attributed to early detection, reduced smoking rates, and advancements in treatment.
Why am I talking about cancer?? Because Reliv has an added option or solution to a cancer diagnosis. It is also an option for those who want to be more focused on preventative practices.
A friend of mine in California – also a Reliv distributor – has worked with over 1,000 individuals with cancer with great success (including glioblastoma). Another member of Reliv, Dr. Alfredo Galvez, is the geneticist who discovered lunasin, the main ingredient in our Lunarich products. His Facebook and LinkedIn pages are filled with impressive findings.
Here is a Simple Analogy from Dr. Alfredo Galvez PhD!
How can a simple dietary nutrient like lunasin have multiple health benefits? Here’s a computer analogy to explain how lunasin acts inside the body.
Our body is composed of more than 200 cell types (i.e. skin cells, liver cells, blood cells, neurons) that look and function differently from each other but contain the same DNA (the genome or a person’s entire genetic information). What makes each cell type different is the packaging of DNA (the epigenome) that determines which genes are expressed (turned on) and which genes are silenced (turned off) inside each cell type.
Imagine for a moment that each cell in the body is a computer, then the genome is like the CPU (central processing unit) hardware and the epigenome is like the software program that tells the CPU what to do (which genes to turn on and off) and imparts functionality to each cell. As people age, there will be many changes to the epigenome (software) and in some cases changes to the genome (hardware) that predispose individuals to chronic diseases, depending on their interaction with the environment, like smoking, poor diet, stress and sedentary lifestyle. Unlike changes to the genome (called mutations), which are permanent, unwanted changes to the epigenome can potentially be reversed to promote health and reduce the incidence of chronic diseases.
For example, if a computer slows down because it gets infected by a virus or malware, most of us will not junk the computer (akin to cell/tissue removal by surgery or by chemotherapy) but rather use an anti-virus program to reprogram and fix the software (epigenome) problem and restore the computer (cell) back to its normal function. Unlike drugs that target irreversible mutations in the genome (hardware), lunasin acts like an anti-virus or a computer maintenance program that fixes and reverses unwanted changes to the epigenome (software) of cells. Since each cell type in the body has a different epigenome (software), the presence of bioactive lunasin has the potential to reprogram and optimize the function of the epigenome in multiple cell types to provide multiple benefits.
