Tammy Longo Essential OilsIt has been a long couple of months and now that school is canceled for the remainder of the year, it’s important to find ways to reduce our stress, remain calm, and uplift our mood.  Even when we are able to get back out into the world, it will not be the same as we knew it.  One way that we can handle day to day stress is to develop a self-care routine using essential oils.  There are natural alternatives that can make a difference in sleep, mood, and energy.

Meditating even for a minute or two each day can be helpful.  Set a positive intention each morning and be mindful of your thoughts.  Citrus essential oils have uplifting properties and one of my favorite citrus essential oils is Wild Orange.   Put a drop in the palms of your hands, rub them together, and put your hands over your nose.  Take a deep breath in and a long breath out.  This scent is amazing while you hit your reset button and find your zen.

We all know that sleep is important because we need rest to remain calm and focused throughout the day.  If you need a little help quieting your mind at night and falling asleep, try Lavender essential oil.  Lavender is one of my favorites because this floral essential oil has calming, soothing, and relaxing benefits for the mind and body.  It may also reduce anxious feelings and improve your mood. I love putting 4 drops of Lavender in my diffuser about an hour before bedtime to get everyone ready for a good night’s sleep.  Smelling Lavender at nighttime can be helpful to set the mood in the house because it tells the brain it’s time to calm down.  You can also put a drop on your pillow before bed or put a drop on your wrists to calm your thoughts.

Try this relaxing bath salt recipe in the bath or shower before bedtime.

½ cup Epsom salt

10 drops lavender essential oil

10 pumps fractionated coconut oil

Mix and sprinkle in the bathtub or use as a body scrub

I hope these tips can help you stress less, sleep better, and live a healthier life.  For more tips you can follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest @wellnesswithtammy or check out my blog at www.wellnesswithtammy.com
