A Smile, a hello, or a Hi

I love sitting outside my building, weather permitting,

and watching a parade of strangers and dogs walk by,

and how often they smile, and even their dogs join in to bark

by saying a hello or Hi.

This is my happy place, just a little corner in my world

that brings warmth and friendliness into my day,

and lessens the fear and turmoil that sadly we are subjected

to each and every day.

It is truly the little and unexpected gestures that are our gifts,

that enhance our days and bring us enormous lifts.

If  an opportunity arises for you to offer a smile, a hello or a hi to a passerby,

do so, give a shoutout of friendliness to someone on the fly.
