Serendipity as I Rehab

Although Independence Day was celebrated months ago, I’ve been experiencing my own independence in a whole new way.

After dislocating my shoulder and breaking my humerus (plus a broken kneecap and tibia), I relied on others for the simplest tasks.

But recently, my orthopedist gave me the go-ahead to start using my right arm again.

That “green light” opened the door to new freedoms:

✨ I can transfer myself from bed to wheelchair and elsewhere without waiting for help.  ✨ I can wheel myself throughout the facility, visiting patients, joining Zumba classes, and enjoying live music. ✨ I can even ride the elevator down to the lobby, where freshly infused water is waiting (today it was lemon, orange, and sage, anti-inflammatory).

Each of these small wins feels like a giant step toward reclaiming independence.

And here’s the parallel for entrepreneurs like us:

Many credentialed professionals love what they do, but when it comes to selling, they hold back.

They worry about being pushy… or, in their passion, accidentally coming across as aggressive.

That hesitation can feel like being stuck, waiting for permission to proceed.

But independence in business, just like in recovery, comes from practicing small steps every day:

✅ Choosing connection over pressure. ✅ Building confidence through authentic conversations. ✅ Trusting that you don’t need to push to make progress.

Independence isn’t about doing it all alone.

It’s about knowing you have the freedom, skills, and support to move forward, at your own pace, in your own style.

So today I’m celebrating not just my personal independence, but yours too.

May you find freedom in sharing your gifts with the world. – To your sales success, Nancy Zare, Ph.D. Sales with Soul
