When Every Day Starts to Feel Like Friday: The Power of Intuitive Living

Lately, every single day has been starting to feel like a Friday.

If you had asked me a year ago, I would have told you my favorite day of the week has always been Friday. For me, Friday is the gateway to the weekend, of time with friends and family, celebrations, focusing on fun projects, and projects that will improve my quality of life.

The weekdays are my time alone in my house, being self-directed and re-centering. The weekend is that aligned version of me, which had all week to reconnect with myself, getting to reconnect with my husband, our home, and the land surrounding our home. Tending to the structure and each other in ways the work week doesn't allow.

The weekend is staying up later, spending time on the outdoor patio in front of the glorious fireplace and outdoor kitchen, all of it built by my husband. When the dog gets to be with us and outside ALL DAY long.  When I get to create in the kitchen, putting together menus, trying new recipes, and creating my own dishes to nourish myself and my loved ones. It's having friends over to join us for dinner and time on the patio in front of the fire.

The weekend is when I get to spend 2-3 hours catching up with my daughter, who lives in NYC. We connect through video calls and just gab, laughing, crying, sharing our week.  It's also when I'm most likely able to catch up with my sister, who lives in FL.

The weekend is pure potential and full on in the NOW.  So, yeah, that's why Fridays are my favorite.  And recently, I've noticed something: every day is beginning to feel like a Friday. And you could argue that because I get to work from home, of course, it would feel like that.

But that was absolutely not the case. This shift has become noticeable since I decided to consciously live an intuitive life. I've always been a very intuitive person, even before that word became a thing. I've navigated my life fairly easily because of this innate ability.  This year, I set an intention to do it consciously.  To exist in every aspect of my life with conscious intuition.

That means, asking myself, "Ok, Gaelen, what's next?" Instead of asking "What should I be doing?" I ask, " What do you want to do and how do you want to get it done?" Instead of agonizing over the highest protein, lowest carb lunch option, I ask, "What would feel nourishing to eat right now?"  Instead of pushing myself to keep increasing the weight I lift, I ask, " How would you like to move your body?"

Intuitive living is learning to seek and take direction from yourself. To seek counsel from yourself before you ask anyone else's opinion. It's learning all the things about nutrition, exercise, style, etc, and then asking "What feels right for me right now?"

It takes you from being told what to do and how to do it to allowing yourself to choose based on your needs. It's you settling into alignment with your soul.

It’s a practice, so of course I still hit the occasional week that feels like one long Monday. But thankfully, that’s becoming the exception rather than the rule.

Consciously shifting to an Intuitive Living practice has strengthened my intuition, my trust in myself, my happiness, joy, and ease daily. To the point where every day is starting to feel like a gateway to those weekend vibes.

What would your life look like if you stopped asking what you should do and started asking what nourishes you?

What if Tuesday carried the same lightness as a Friday afternoon?
