You Are the Story: Finding Your Brand Voice

As you would expect, I have many conversations with many different people focused on finding and using your unique brand voice in communications. One recently hit hard. In a discussion with Angela Acosta of The Gal Project, Angela Atelier, and the Diana Prince Lives Next Door Podcast.

She shared with me that she had a lot of trouble with the whole storytelling thing. She had mentors who kept telling her that she needed to tell stories. She said,

"When you're in corporate, you're not gathering those stories, right? So I didn't understand, like, what was I supposed to talk about?

As you are going through your journey as a business owner, you're gathering those stories. For me, I'm going to put it in my data analytical sense. You're gathering that data.

So if your stories aren't completely formed yet, they will be. There are fears that women have and that we carry about actually speaking up about our own strengths. I had certain specific talents, but I never had stories to put out there on social media or in a blog post because I was still doing the hustle in corporate.

They want you to tell stories, but then it also has to fit in their box. It has to fit in with their brand and how the corporation shows up.

You're telling the corporation stories."

When you work for yourself, you are the story. In fact, you are the book full of chapters, stories, experiences, lessons - these are the foundation of your autonomous communications.

Angela and I dive into the many angles of the concept of visibility and getting seen in the latest Diana Price Lives Next Door Podcast.
