You’re Not Old, You’ve Just Been Around for a While

Birthdays Are to Be Celebrated, Not Counted

You never know who will say the words that can change your thinking
from ordinary, worrisome to suddenly uplifting.
I had a driver who was taking me home from an appointment, and during our conversation, I referred to myself as an old lady. Which chronologically I am.
He quickly corrected me and said, “If you are referring to your age, I disagree with you. You’re not old, you just have been around for a while.”
I was taken aback for a minute and suddenly realized that his words were so simply expressed and yet so meaningful. He made me aware that the older I get to be, is not determined by my age. Birthdays are to be celebrated, not to
be counted. The fact I have been around for a while has given me the opportunity to keep counting my blessings, enjoy my loving family and loyal friends, and I look forward to accomplishing future goals.
I was fated to meet this special driver. For this kind gentleman, a
total stranger, changed my entire thinking about longevity. I will just
think of my newest best friend’s quote, “ I’ve been around for a while,”
and plan to enjoy it as long as it lasts.
Amen!
