What Are You Proud of This Summer? Celebrating the Wins No One Else Sees

It's hard to believe summer is already starting to wind down.
A few months ago, I had ideas about what this season would look like.
Some of those things happened.
Many of them didn't.
Life had other plans.
This summer included a hospital stay, dialysis, difficult conversations, long days, unexpected blessings, a finished workbook, a new book getting ready to launch, and more reminders than I can count that life rarely follows the timeline we create for it.
As I've looked back over the past few weeks, I've realized something.
Wins don't always arrive looking like celebrations.
Sometimes they look like...
...making the phone call you've been avoiding.
...speaking up when your voice shakes.
...asking for help.
...resting without apologizing for it.
...simply getting through a day you never wanted to experience.
...choosing yourself when the old version of you wouldn't have.
I think one of the biggest mistakes we make is believing a win only counts if everyone else can see it.
But some of the most meaningful victories happen quietly.
They're the moments when you choose yourself.
The moments when you respond differently than you used to.
The moments when you finally trust yourself.
The moments when you realize you've grown, even if no one else notices.

When I think about this summer, I'm certainly grateful for the tangible things.
Holding my workbook for the first time.
Getting closer to releasing my new book.
Watching Dave start to feel better after dialysis.
Seeing people step forward to be tested as potential kidney donors.
Those are beautiful gifts.
But if I'm honest, the biggest win wasn't any of those.
The biggest win was realizing how much I've changed.
A few years ago, I would've tried to carry everything by myself.
This summer, I asked for what I needed. I trusted myself. I permitted myself to step away. I let people help. I came back without guilt.
That version of me didn't happen overnight.
She was built one decision at a time.
One boundary at a time.
One act of self-trust at a time.

As summer comes to a close, I don't want you to think about everything that's still left on your to-do list.
I don't want you to focus on the goals you haven't reached yet.
Instead, I'd love for you to pause for just a minute and ask yourself one simple question.
What am I proud of this summer?
Maybe no one else knows about it.
Maybe it feels too small to mention.
I promise you, it isn't.
Your wins deserve to be acknowledged. Your growth deserves to be celebrated. And your story deserves to be honored.
So here's my invitation.

One thing I'm proud of this summer is...
I'd truly love to celebrate that win with you.
Here's to noticing how far we've come and continuing to choose ourselves, one decision at a time.
